What is a Guardian Home?
A Guardian Home offers a unique opportunity to welcome one of our dogs into your family at a reduced rate, while Ferrario Dachshunds retains the breeding rights. This allows your dog to thrive as a pet in its forever home, while also involved in our breeding program. Together, we can further enhance the breed and share the joy of owning a Dachshund.
A Little About Guardian Homes
Duration of Contract
Guardian Home dogs will be part of our breeding program for a maximum of 5 years at our discretion. After breeding, the guardian home dog will be spayed/neutered (at our expense) and full ownership will be transferred to the Guardian Home family.
Incentives
Guardian homes receive a percentage of revenue gained from successful litters (3+ puppies) for female dogs and successful breeding that results in a litter for males.
Time Away From Guardian Family
Guardian home females will reside with us for about one week prior to her due date and will remain with us until her puppies are whelped and weaned (about 5-7 weeks). Guardian home males will be at our home for up to one full day, 2x per breeding, for stud services. We may use guardian home males up to 10 times a year.
